Dr. Caillouette Performs Minimally Invasive, Rapid Recovery Hip and Knee Replacement

Minimally Invasive Knee Replacement – Dr. Caillouette performs a quadriceps sparing, minimally invasive approach for knee replacement which results in less blood loss, less pain, and a more rapid return of function. The quadriceps muscle is not cut with this technique as it is in the traditional approach. Typically patients begin to stand and walk six hours after surgery. Most patients spend two nights in the hospital and then go home. By the time patients leave, they are able to get in and out of bed, up and down stairs, in and out of the restroom all on their own. Patients begin driving at three weeks after surgery. This is a significant improvement in the rate and quality of recovery.
